Brandy cocktail recipes
South Africa drinks more brandy per head than almost anywhere, and almost all of it goes into a glass with Coke. It deserves better company. The Sidecar and the Cape of Good Hope are both built on the same idea: brandy, an orange liqueur, and enough lemon to keep it upright.
Orange liqueurs are the heavy ingredient here — triple sec and curaçao run around 0.98–0.99 g/ml and Van der Hum sits near 1.05 — so the sweet side of the drink weighs more than you would guess. Both numbers are on every page.
