PourPilot App — Privacy Policy

PourPilot ("we", "our", "us") built the PourPilot mobile app (the "App"), which connects over Bluetooth to a PourPilot coaster to help you pour cocktails with precision. This policy explains what information the App handles and the rights you have. We designed the App to collect as little as possible — most of it works completely offline, with no account. PourPilot is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed at children (see Section 8).
1. Information we collect
- Account information (optional). Creating an account is optional. If you sign up, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is never stored by the App or seen by us — it is sent directly to our authentication provider (Supabase), which stores it only as a salted hash.
- Your saved bar (optional). If you are signed in, the ingredients you mark as owned ("My Bar") sync to your account across devices. This is the only personal content the App stores on our servers.
- Bluetooth measurements — not collected. Live weight and pour data
is processed on your phone in real time to guide your pour. It is never transmitted
to us or any third party, and it is never stored on our servers. On Android our
Bluetooth permission is declared
neverForLocation, so the App does not access or derive your location. - No analytics, no ads, no trackers. The App contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporters and no third-party trackers. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across apps or websites.
2. How we use your information
Only to provide the App's features (pairing with the coaster, guiding pours), to create and secure your optional account, to sync your "My Bar" list, and to respond to support requests. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, serve ads, or build advertising profiles.

Our account data is hosted in the eu-west-1 (AWS Europe — Ireland) region. The Supabase client library is bundled inside the App at build time; the App does not load code from any third-party CDN at runtime.
4. Data retention & deletion
Account data and your "My Bar" list are retained while your account is active and deleted when your account is deleted. To delete your account and all associated data, use Settings → Account → Delete account in the App (immediate), follow the steps at pourpilot.co.za/delete-account.html, or email us. Bluetooth pour data is never retained by us.
5. Security
All communication with our provider is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS). Row-Level Security ensures each account can only ever read or modify its own data. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
6. Your rights (POPIA)
We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing us, and you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, equivalent rights apply under the GDPR (including restriction, objection and portability). California residents: we do not sell or share personal information (CCPA/CPRA).
7. Children's privacy
PourPilot relates to preparing alcoholic beverages and is intended solely for adults of legal drinking age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
When we make significant changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised policy at this address. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in the App.
